An experienced accountant for your Dutch BV

As a director of a BV you want certainty that your annual accounts, tax returns and tax position are correct. An accountant prepares the annual accounts, advises on tax structuring and flags risks before they become problems. Moreover, the complexity of your company often grows with the number of operating companies or the scale of its activities, which makes professional guidance increasingly important. Our accountants know the rules for BVs well and think along proactively on tax optimisation, succession planning and the design of your company structure. This way you stay in control of your figures and avoid surprises from the Tax Authorities.

Who needs an accountant for their Dutch BV?

An experienced accountant for your Dutch BV becomes valuable as soon as your company grows or gets more complex. We support holding structures, companies with several operating companies, director-shareholders who pay out dividends and businesses approaching an audit obligation, for example. Every BV has different tax points of attention, such as the innovation box, the participation exemption or the earnings stripping rule. Good advice prevents you from paying more tax than necessary and ensures your structure matches your long-term goals. Furthermore, a BV with an audit obligation needs an accountant who can carry out the statutory audit or guide you through it. We make sure everything is properly arranged, tailored to the stage your company is in. Our strength lies in in-depth tax knowledge, personal guidance and clear communication, so you always know where you stand.

Advice that grows with your BV

As your BV grows, your need for guidance changes too. A second operating company, an acquisition or growing profits call for different tax advice than in the start-up phase. We monitor the development of your company and flag in good time when, for instance, an audit obligation applies or another structure becomes more advantageous. This way you stay informed about tax opportunities and risks, even when your company changes or expands.

FAQ

Questions?
We'll answer them.

What does an accountant for a BV cost?

Gele diagonale lijn van rechtsboven naar linksonder op witte achtergrond.
The cost of an accountant for a BV depends on the size of your company, the complexity of the structure and the scope of the work. Preparing annual accounts for a small BV costs less than guidance for a group with several operating companies. We agree on a clear price in advance, so you know what to expect. After an introductory meeting you receive a quote that matches your situation.

When does my BV need an audit?

Gele diagonale lijn van rechtsboven naar linksonder op witte achtergrond.
A BV must have its annual accounts audited by an auditor when it exceeds certain limits for two consecutive years. These limits concern a balance sheet total above 7.5 million euros, net turnover above 15 million euros or more than 50 employees. A BV that exceeds at least two of these three limits falls under the audit obligation. Smaller companies are exempt, although a voluntary audit can still be useful for banks or investors.

What is the difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper for a BV?

An accountant prepares and assesses annual accounts, advises on tax and company structure, and looks ahead at strategic decisions. A bookkeeper mainly handles the daily records, such as invoices, bank entries and VAT returns. Many BV owners use both. The bookkeeper keeps the records tidy and the accountant uses these figures for the annual accounts and advice.

Can I switch to another accountant with my BV?

Yes, switching is straightforward and you can do it at any time. With your permission, your new accountant requests the files from your previous accountant. We take care of this handover and check the figures from previous years. This way your BV continues without interruption and without gaps in your records.
