A strong financial foundation for your Dutch BV

A Dutch BV comes with its own obligations. You prepare annual accounts every year, file these with the Chamber of Commerce and submit corporate income tax returns. On top of that, rules apply to the current account with the director-major shareholder and to payroll administration when you draw a salary from your BV. Many entrepreneurs lose time on this or make mistakes that later raise questions from the Tax Authorities. Our bookkeepers know BV regulations well and make sure your bookkeeping stays in order, from monthly processing through to the year-end close. Moreover, we think proactively about the tax opportunities within your company.

Who needs a bookkeeper for their Dutch BV?

A professional bookkeeper for your Dutch BV is valuable for a wide range of entrepreneurs. We support holding structures, operating companies, consultancy firms, e-commerce businesses and director-shareholders with multiple companies, for example. Every BV faces its own obligations, such as the annual accounts, corporate income tax and the current account with the director-shareholder. Good bookkeeping provides oversight, prevents risks and creates room to grow strategically. Furthermore, the rules for a BV differ substantially from those for a sole proprietorship, which calls for specific knowledge. We make sure everything is properly arranged, fully tailored to the structure and goals of your company. In addition, we guide both newly formed BVs and established companies with several operating companies with the same care. Our strength lies in personal guidance, up-to-date knowledge of the legislation and clear reporting that gives you constant insight into your figures.

Bookkeeping that grows with your BV

As your BV grows, your bookkeeping needs change too. More invoices, staff or a second branch call for a system that keeps pace with your company. We set up your bookkeeping so it grows along, without you having to spend time adjusting processes yourself. We also flag in good time when your BV reaches a different size classification, for instance when an audit becomes mandatory. This way you avoid surprises and stay in control of your figures, even as your company expands or opens a new operating company.

FAQ

Questions?
We'll answer them.

What does a bookkeeper for a BV cost?

Gele diagonale lijn van rechtsboven naar linksonder op witte achtergrond.
The cost of a bookkeeper for your BV depends on the size of your administration and the number of transactions. We work with a fixed monthly fee, so you know where you stand in advance. We also tailor our services to your situation, for example when you employ staff alongside the BV or run several operating companies. During a free consultation we discuss which tasks are needed and propose a suitable fee, with no surprises afterwards.

When do I need to file my BV's annual accounts?

Your BV must adopt the annual accounts within twelve months of the end of the financial year and file them with the Chamber of Commerce within eight days after that. In practice this means the final deadline falls twelve months and eight days after the financial year ends, with a statutory maximum term of twelve months. We keep track of these deadlines for you, so you are never too late. This also prevents a fine from the Chamber of Commerce and keeps you compliant with your statutory duties as a director of the BV.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant for a BV?

A bookkeeper handles the day-to-day administration of your BV, including processing invoices, VAT returns and preparing the annual accounts. An accountant comes into play when a statutory audit applies or when you need a compilation report for the annual accounts. Most BVs fall into the small or medium category and do not require an audit. We support your BV with its bookkeeping and, where needed, bring in an accountant from our network for the additional work.

Can I transfer my BV's bookkeeping to you?

Yes, switching to us is possible at any time. We take over the existing administration and first map it out in full, so we know exactly where your BV stands. We then move the bookkeeping over to our own way of working and systems, without any hassle on your part. We also inform you in good time about outstanding matters, such as tax returns still to be filed or annual accounts yet to be filed. This way you start with a clean slate and a clear administration for your BV.
